The 13th China (Mianyang) Science and Technology City International Science and Technology Expo opened in Mianyang on September 26. It is the world's first ultra-high dose rate FLASH radiotherapy device, suitable for the treatment of deep-seated solid tumors and representing the latest global development trend in tumor radiotherapy technology.

X-Flash: A Revolutionary Innovation in Tumor Treatment

FLASH radiotherapy technology is widely recognized as the third revolutionary innovation in the global field of tumor radiotherapy. By delivering ultra-high dose rate (≥40Gy/s) radiation to tumors in an extremely short period, it rapidly destroys tumor cell DNA while minimizing damage to normal tissues.

The X-Flash, an ultra-high dose rate X-ray FLASH radiotherapy device, entered the type inspection phase in 2025 and is scheduled to commence clinical trial work in 2026. Its sister device, the e-Flash, has already begun clinical trials at medical institutions such as West China Hospital of Sichuan University. In the future, FLASH devices are expected to bring new treatment options to cancer patients.
