Vice President Du Xiaobo of Mianyang Central Hospital presented a report titled "Progress in FLASH Radiotherapy Research," and Liu Xianhong from the Sichuan Nuclear Medical Equipment Industry Innovation Center delivered a keynote speech titled "FLASH Radiotherapy: Breakthroughs and Journey —— Collaborating to Explore the Future of Cancer Treatment," jointly promoting an in-depth discussion on this cutting-edge technology.

In Liu Xianhong's report, he delved into the latest research progress, challenges, and future development directions of FLASH radiotherapy, a cutting-edge technology. With its ultra-high dose rate (≥40Gy/s), FLASH radiotherapy is regarded as the "third revolution" in radiotherapy technology. Its core value lies in its potential to significantly reduce radiation damage to normal tissues without compromising tumor control rates, thereby greatly expanding the therapeutic window. However, its clinical translation is still constrained by three major bottlenecks —— unclear biological mechanisms, lack of systematic data, and absence of predictive models. In response to this, Zhongjiu Flash has proposed a "Chinese solution": to simultaneously advance the "dual-wheel" devices of electron e-Flash, which has entered clinical trials, and X-Flash, which is expected to be tested in 2026, and to establish a standardized irradiation platform from cells to large animals, using an open ecosystem and real data to connect the entire chain from basic research to clinical application.

The content of the report sparked a lively discussion among the experts present, who noted that in recent years, China's development speed in the field of radiooncology has been remarkable, especially in the clinical exploration and equipment research and development of cutting-edge technologies such as FLASH radiotherapy and spatially fractionated radiotherapy (SFRT), where China has taken the lead in the world. The active participation and technological innovation of domestic companies like Zhongjiu Flash have injected strong momentum into the autonomous and precise development of China's radiotherapy industry.
