On October 14th, the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the "World Fusion Energy Group" and the 30th International Conference on Fusion Energy opened in Chengdu.

Zhang Guoqing, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Director of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, extended a welcome address. Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and Chen Jiachang, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, also spoke. Shan Zhongde, Director of the National Atomic Energy Agency, presented the national keynote report. Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Province, attended the opening ceremony.
During the conference, the "Fusion Science and Innovation City Launch Ceremony and Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technology Application Achievements Investment and Financing Roadshow," as one of the key series of events, was grandly held on October 14th at the Tianfu International Convention Center in Chengdu. A total of 260 domestic and international guests from government, industry, academia, and research circles witnessed this highlight moment.
A series of nuclear technology application achievements were successively released, highlighting Sichuan's leading advantages in the research and development and clinical application of nuclear medicine, forming an innovative pattern driven by both "nuclear technology + nuclear medicine."
Record-Breaking Clinical Achievements, Rewriting Radiotherapy History in 0.03 Seconds
At the "Nuclear Medicine Industry Achievements Release" segment of this roadshow event, Zhongjiu Flash Medical Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Changhong Holding Group, showcased its domestically pioneering e-Flash 200A ultra-high dose rate electron beam radiotherapy system and jointly conducted a themed roadshow with West China Hospital of Sichuan University titled "What Can 0.03 Seconds Do? —— Clinical Trial Phase Progress Release of the Ultra-High Dose Rate Electron Beam Radiotherapy System (e-Flash 200A)." Vice President Wu Hong of West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Vice General Manager Liu Xianhong of Zhongjiu Flash Medical Technology Co., Ltd., jointly announced that the e-Flash 200A system has completed FLASH radiotherapy on five cancer patients. More excitingly, as of the time of publication, all treated patients are in generally good condition with no significant discomfort, preliminarily validating the good safety and effectiveness of the e-Flash 200A for superficial tumors.


The technical parameters of the e-Flash 200A have attracted industry attention: compared with existing radiotherapy, the dose rate has increased by more than 1,000 times, the number of treatments has decreased by about 90%, the cumulative irradiation time has been shortened by more than 99%, and the total dose of the entire treatment course is significantly lower than traditional methods. This "ultra-fast, precise" treatment mode, verified through domestic and international animal experiments and preliminary human clinical trials, not only controls tumor treatment outcomes but also significantly reduces treatment side effects while substantially alleviating patients' physical and psychological, as well as economic, burdens, bringing new possibilities to cancer treatment. The core technology of the system originates from the long-term accumulation of the Institute of Applied Electronics of the China Academy of Engineering Physics, providing a crucial source of support for the clinical translation of FLASH technology. This FLASH technology, hailed as the "third technological revolution" in the global radiotherapy community, is expected to achieve the first clinical translation from laboratory to clinical application in China, relying on a solid foundation of independent research and development.
From "Made in China" to "Created in China": A Perfect Transformation
At this important moment when global fusion energy research is entering a new era, China's nuclear technology industry is undergoing a profound transformation and upgrading. The successful development of the Changhong Zhongjiu Flash e-Flash 200A and its phased breakthroughs in clinical trials not only represent significant progress in the FLASH radiotherapy field but also demonstrate the collaborative effectiveness of research institutions and enterprises such as the 10th Research Institute of the China Academy of Engineering Physics and Changhong in scientific and technological innovation and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
