Domestic FLASH Radiotherapy Moves Forward: Zhongjiu FLASH Debuts at Union Hospital Oncology Radiotherapy Academic Conference

December 5-7, 2025 — the 11th Peking Union Forum on Tumor Radiotherapy, jointly hosted by Peking Union Medical College Hospital and the Radiotherapy Equipment Technology Branch of the China Association of Medical Equipment, was successfully held in Beijing. Under the theme “Smart Innovation for Personalized Radiotherapy,” the conference brought together leading clinical and medical-physics experts from China and abroad, as well as front-line specialists in gynecological oncology, to explore adaptive radiotherapy, multi-modal image guidance, SBRT, FLASH radiotherapy, proton/heavy-ion therapy, immuno-radiotherapy and other cutting-edge topics, showcasing the latest results of nationwide multi-center collaborative research.

As a pioneer of the FLASH radiotherapy revolution, Zhongjiu FLASH took an active role in this academic gathering, presenting its “Chinese solution” for the clinical engineering of FLASH radiotherapy and discussing the industrialization pathway and future prospects of this disruptive technology with peers. The company’s featured lecture, “FLASH Clinical Exploration: Engineering Breakthroughs and Preliminary Clinical Practice,” delivered a comprehensive overview of the technology’s core advances and industrialization progress.

The talk focused on the engineering breakthroughs of the company’s self-developed ultra-high-dose-rate electron radiotherapy system (e-Flash): the first system in China to enter clinical trials, it now delivers stable ultra-high dose rates and has solved key engineering challenges such as real-time dose monitoring. Designed for superficial tumors, the first five clinical cases showed good tumor control and only mild acute skin reactions, verifying the feasibility and biological safety of the engineering translation. Meanwhile, the company’s parallel ultra-high-dose-rate X-ray radiotherapy system (X-Flash) has completed full-system development and is undergoing type-testing for registration, extending FLASH therapy to deep-seated tumors. Together, e-Flash and X-Flash demonstrate Zhongjiu FLASH’s leading position in domestic FLASH technology and the innovative strength of China’s high-end radiotherapy equipment.

The Peking Union Forum provided an in-depth platform for discussing precision-radiotherapy innovation and translation. With the first clinical data of e-Flash and the important progress of X-Flash registration testing, Zhongjiu FLASH showcased landmark achievements of its domestic FLASH platform, offering valuable “Chinese exploration” and practical experience for global FLASH clinical translation.

Moving forward, Zhongjiu FLASH will continue to advance along four directions: engineering iteration, biological mechanism research, clinical exploration, and application promotion. Engineering: enhance system stability and quality-control workflows; Biology: join multidisciplinary teams to investigate dose-rate biological effects; Clinical: conduct trials and real-world studies in compliance with regulations; Promotion: foster standardized application and talent training through multi-center cooperation and academic exchange. Leveraging its self-controlled e-Flash and X-Flash dual-product portfolio, the company will steadily drive the domestication, standardization and broad accessibility of frontier radiotherapy technology, injecting sustainable scientific momentum into improving the efficacy and accessibility of cancer treatment in China.
