Academician Fan Guobin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, speaking via video
Academician Fan Guobin delivered a speech via remote video. He highly commended the launch of the project and noted that the entry of e-Flash into the clinical trial verification and evaluation phase marks a solid step for China in the development of an independent and controllable electron beam Flash radiotherapy system, from the laboratory to clinical application. Fan called for enhanced cooperation among all parties to accelerate the pace of technological innovation and clinical translation, fully leverage the advantages of medical-engineering integration, establish mechanisms for data sharing and feedback, and speed up the technological iteration to truly realize the benefits of scientific and technological innovation for the people.
Deputy Inspector Cao Li of the Health Commission of Sichuan Province
Cao Li, from the perspective of regulation and service, put forward clear requirements for the compliant conduct of the project. She emphasized that the clinical trial project is an important measure to deeply implement the strategic deployment of the national and provincial governments. All parties must strictly follow the national medical device clinical trial regulations, improve risk contingency plans, and ensure the rights and safety of the subjects. The provincial health commission will continue to provide regulatory and service support to safeguard the smooth progress of the project.
Deputy Director Li Hua of the Sichuan Provincial Drug Administration
Li Hua stated that clinical trials are a crucial part of medical device development, which is vital for patient health and medical progress. He hoped that Zhongjiu Flash of Changhong would work with the three clinical trial institutions to conduct the trials in a strict, standardized, and orderly manner. Meanwhile, the Sichuan Provincial Drug Administration will provide full-process guidance, maintain continuous communication with the National Medical Products Administration, act as a bridge for communication, and carry out pre-approval work to promote the product's swift approval and market launch.
President Luo Fengming of West China Hospital of Sichuan University
As one of the clinical trial institutions, Luo Fengming extended congratulations on behalf of West China Hospital of Sichuan University. The e-Flash, as a pioneering and internationally leading innovative radiotherapy system in China, can be precisely used for the treatment of superficial or subcutaneous lesions. It features low toxicity and side effects, precise dose control, short irradiation time, and a broad therapeutic window. Moving forward, West China Hospital of Sichuan University will fully leverage its strengths in medical care, research, and teaching to strongly support the clinical trial work.
Party Secretary and Chairman Liu Jiang of Changhong Holding Group
Liu Jiang provided a detailed introduction to the progress of the Ultra-High Dose Rate Electron Beam Radiotherapy System project at the launch ceremony. He pointed out that the successful launch of the clinical trial project is the result of the joint efforts of the relevant government departments of Sichuan Province and Mianyang City, as well as research institutes, experts, and the R & D team. The three hospitals that will conduct the e-Flash clinical trials—West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Sichuan Provincial Tumor Hospital, and Mianyang Central Hospital—have provided strong support and dedicated significant effort during the project's advancement. Liu Jiang stated that in the next step, Changhong will work closely with all departments and clinical trial institutions to actively address any potential issues and difficulties that may arise during the project, and ensure the smooth progress of the e-Flash clinical trials. "We will seize the valuable opportunity of this clinical trial to actively expand and strengthen in-depth cooperation with all parties, and inject strong momentum into the vigorous development of China's medical cause," he said.
At the end of the meeting, under the witness of all leaders and guests, Academician Fan Guobin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced the official launch of the clinical trial project of the Ultra-High Dose Rate Electron Beam Radiotherapy System. Subsequently, the participants took a group photo to commemorate this historic moment.
A person in charge of Zhongjiu Flash of Changhong said that the successful holding of this launch ceremony marks the official entry of the clinical trial project of the Ultra-High Dose Rate Electron Beam Radiotherapy System into the implementation stage. The project's implementation will not only bring more precise and effective treatment options for cancer patients but also further promote the research and application of high-end medical equipment in China, enhancing the country's influence and competitiveness in the international medical field. As the core R & D company of the project, Zhongjiu Flash will continue to work with all parties, using FLASH technology as a breakthrough point to push China's medical technology innovation to new heights.
